About This Printer

Mid-Range · $400–$550

The SV08 is Sovol's flagship CoreXY printer and a rare find: a genuinely open-source CoreXY running Klipper that punches well above its weight class. It uses a tool-board PCB system on the printhead for clean wiring, supports CANBUS, and delivers 700mm/s speeds. It's built for modders and tinkerers who want the flexibility of a Voron-adjacent machine without building from scratch.

What it does well

  • Open-source CoreXY with full Klipper support
  • 700mm/s top speed with CANBUS toolboard architecture
  • Highly modifiable — active community building Voron-style mods
  • Good print quality at moderate speeds
  • Better build quality than many Chinese budget printers

Limitations to know

  • Open-frame design — no enclosure for ABS/ASA
  • Requires meaningful calibration to get the best results
  • Not beginner-friendly — assumes Klipper comfort
  • Support from Sovol is limited compared to Bambu or Prusa

Ideal Use Case

Klipper-comfortable tinkerers who want a fast, hackable CoreXY without building a Voron from scratch.
